Latex Balloons

What is a latex balloon? Perhaps the first type of balloons most people encounter as children are called latex balloons. Latex balloons are made, not surprisingly, from latex rubber, naturally elastic material used to make everything from latex house paint to latex gloves. In the case of latex balloons, the rubber is molded into various shapes and ordinary air or other gases such as helium, can be forced into them for expansion purposes. Unlike the Mylar or foil balloons often seen at parties, latex balloons can be stretched and manipulated into various shapes by skilled balloon artists. Long, thin latex balloons are usually twisted into animal shapes, flowers or even party hats by professional clowns hired for birthday parties. Traditional round latex balloons filled with helium may be used to form colorful bouquets or given out as treats for party guests. These are the types of balloons that some people are allergic to. Latex balloons are not allowed in hospitals due to allergic reaction to the latex. However these balloons are fun and come in many different colors and patterns.

Latex Balloon Types

Latex balloons are available in almost every color. There are the standard primary colors, neon colors, pastel colors, and pearlized latex balloons. Some balloons have patterns, sayings, numerals, and messages on them. There are only a few standard sizes of these balloons. The most typical sizes are 5, 9 and 11 inches. You can purchase jumbo balloons that are 17 inches in diameter. For extra special events you can special order 3, 5 and 8 foot balloons. Keep in mind these balloons are quite expensive and require a lot of helium.

Balloon Weights

How do you keep your balloons from flying away? Balloon weights are the best way to keep your balloons weighted down. The balloon weights are made out of weighted plastic that are attached to the string to ensure that your balloons will not fly away. Available in many different themes there is one to match your party. Styles available are stars, smiley faces, diaper clips, graduation, hearts, bears, flowers and balloons.
